I got the P320 in french language. The problem was, that I can't officialy change the language inside this PDA (My wish was to change it into Czech). I was
still looking for working solutions and I found it finally here. And I have to describe here my experiences with this P320.
It exist a lot of variants, which I found on this forum. Something works,
something not.
Variant 1:
Practically, you can change the language from any you want to any you want. :-) And the funny thing is, that you do that from official Asus sites :-)
The whole trick is, to download Chinese firmware and your language firmware.
Then you will combine both firmwares to do the update succesfully.
It was described by ,,cesconoa,, on this forum. But, very important thing is, that the firmware must have the SAME version number, and it works with 4.10 old firmware only!!!
I give you an example here, what I did to change the language from French to Czech. It must works with all languages I think.
a) I downloaded V4.10.0 of Chinese firmware
(ASUS PDA Phone P320_V4100_V49_V1290_CHT.zip)
b) I downloaded V4.10.0 of Czech firmware
(ASUS PDA Phone P320_V4100_V49_V1100_CSY.ZIP)
c) I extracted from Chinese firmware ,,autorun.exe,, and from czech firmware I extracted ,,850_GAX_SD_enc.bin,,
d) These both files is neccessary to give on SD card to the 2577 directory.
I suppose to have max. 1GB empty SD card to avoid all errors.
e) So, you have on SD card 2577 directory with 2 files now.
f) Put SD card to the P320, hold volume down key ,,-,, and switch it ON.
g) it begins to install the ,,new,, Czech firmware.
If not, then run it manualy in PDA trough Program explorer and run ,,autorun.exe,, from the SD. It starts to extract the encrypted ,,bin,, file. After then it write notice to stick ,,reset button,, and hold the volume down key ,,-,,
Then it starts to calculate checksum and re-write the flash... And voila! The Cz language is inside the P320!
Tips and tricks:
-I supposse to delete 2577 directory from SD after firmware flash
-After successfuly flash, you can download the newest V4.15.0 official firmware in your language and flash it again up to date!!!!!
-You can extract the 850_GAX_SD.bin from 850_GAX_SD_enc.bin file during instalation. To do this special
file, after manual run of autorun.exe wait for unpacking and wait for RESET notice.
Before you tap RESET button, simply push out the SD card and copy the decrypted 850_GAX_SD.bin file to PC :-)
It's just for backup and for IT people :-)
-You can use these 850_GAX_SD.bin file for flashing too, but you will find the answer in variant 2, described below :-D
Variant 2:
Some words for start:
The PDA made extraction of ,,850_GAX_SD_enc.bin,, (encrypted file) file during the official flashing from Windows CE.
The decrypted file 850_GAX_SD.bin is in the root of the SD card just a while.
You can make a copy of this decrypted file before you RESET the PDA :-D

b) Then is neccesarry to unhide this file (to clear all atributes of this file). For example in Total Commander etc.
c) Then just copy it to the ROOT of SD card. I suppose to have clear, (FAT) formated SD card with no other files and max. 1Gb size.
d) So, you have 1 file on the SD card called 850_GAX_SD.bin
e) Simple put it to the PDA again, hold the volume down key again and switch it ON
f) The flashing must begin soon, checksum etc....

because I done a lot of experiments with this Asus P320 :-DDD
